The Soulwich Sandwich July 3, 2009
The other day Food 2 kissed June goodbye with a piece about Soul Food Month, which includes a recipe for Fried Chicken and Waffles. One commenter asked why the chicken is served bone-in. I’m not sure what the answer is, but the question sparked an idea. Behold, The Soulwich! Foodies yearning for good ol’ soul food won’t have to worry about picking bones out of this comforting sandwich. It’s got boneless, fried chicken breast on golden waffles and yummy syrup flowing down the side.

This is a delicacy on all my camping trips, i usually wash it down with a Lakeport or something of lesser calibre!
Yes, the Soulwich would go well with campfires, singing and some frosty suds! Enjoy.
I’ve made a similar version of this by buying a McDonald’s Southern Style Chicken Biscuit and Sausage McGriddle and switching the meats between the two so I end up with a fried chicken patty on a mapley pancake bun and a sausage patty on a biscuit.
